An Essay on the Trial by Jury
American political activist Lysander Spooner defends the concept of jury nullification in this essay. Jury nullification is the idea that a jury has the right not only to decide the facts, but whether the law in question should be applied. Juries can than render a not guilty verdict not only by finding that the person did not violate the law, but by finding it unjust to apply the law, or finding the law itself invalid.
